About Butterfly English:
Butterfly English Education was founded in 2021 by an English teacher who believes that all online English teachers should be valued and treated with respect.
Butterfly English is a "teacher-first" online school that prioritizes the needs and well-being of its teachers. They recognize the critical role that teachers play in the educational process.
Mission:
Their main aim is to help Chinese children speak English naturally. They seek to create a space where children see learning as fun and enjoyable. A space where they are encouraged, rewarded and praised for their progress. A space where learning is exciting!
Butterfly English Age range:
Children aged 4-15 years old
Adults
Butterfly English Class Type:
All classes are 1:1 for 25 minutes or 50 minutes.
Classes are taught on the app Classin.
Children's classes include:
phonics courses,
speaking courses,
reading courses and
writing courses.
Textbooks used:
Oxford Phonics World,
Oxford Show and Tell,
Oxford Discover,
Power Up,
THINK,
Reading Explorer, etc.
Adult classes include:
General English courses,
Business English courses,
and IELTS preparation.
Classes are recorded so that parents can watch the replay at a later time.
Butterfly English Requirements:
Native speaker from USA/Canada/UK/Australia/New Zealand/South Africa
Bachelor’s degree
At least 1-2 years experience teaching children online
Butterfly English Minimum Hours:
Minimum seven hours per week,
Butterfly English Pay:
$20 USD per hour
Payment is monthly, on the last Friday of the month through WISE, PayPal, Revolut, Stripe
Butterfly English Peak Teaching Times:
Peak times are between 18:00-21:00 BJT (Beijing Time)
Butterfly English Application Process:
1.) Complete the pre-screening form (click the “Apply” button on this page)
2.) If you pass pre-screening, you will be invited to submit the following:
Your introduction video
Your resume
Your teaching demo video
A copy of your degree
3.) If your submissions meets the requirements, then you will move through the following stages. You must pass each stage to move to a subsequent one.
a.) Interview
b.) Paid Training (30 minutes to 1 hour)
c.) Record Introduction Video for Butterfly English
d.) First Trial Class

Things to consider about Butterfly English Education:
Butterfly offers one of the best hourly pay rates in the industry currently, but they have strict requirements. You must be a native speaker, have a degree, a teaching certificate, some experience, and go through a thorough application process. Given their approach and their salary, the effort certainly seems worth it.
