Many teachers are using it as a secondary reward system.
(for those of you that don’t know yet, secondary reward systems are digital or physical reward systems - other than your company’s built-in reward - that you give to students for behaving or performing well)
However, it has many other uses outside of a secondary reward system.
It can also be used:
As a mask filter
Need to teach a student what a lion is? Put on ManyCam’s lion mask! Have a young student that might be a little shy at first? Put on a friendly, funny mask to get them laughing.
2. As a background filter
Celebrating Hallowe’en this week? Make your entire video feed looks like a Hallowe’en party.
3. As a green screen
Is the room in which you teach not suitable for education? This is particularly great for travelling teachers, or those that don’t have a dedicated teaching room. It’s also a great feature for making the introduction video that lives on your teaching profile. This has a big impact on whether or not parents book you. Lure them in with a creative intro video!
*Please note, you will have to have your own physical green screen for this technology to work. You can get a highly-rated, well-priced green screen here. Here’s a green screen that mounts to your computer chair. And here is one that has a support frame so that it can stand on its own.
4. To change between two different screens
This one is getting pretty advanced, but the results are pretty impressive. You could use the second screen to show an internet browser to demonstrate a video or picture you found on the internet. You could also use the second screen to show another monitor or tablet you have that displays your secondary reward system. (think PowerPoint or Google slides). You could even have two cameras set up. One on your face, and another on a whiteboard you use to demonstrate grammar concepts.
As we previously mentioned, ManyCam has both free and paid versions. The Trial Version has limited functionality, but it will allow you see some of the features.
ManyCam has two main plans that are suitable to teachers:
can be installed on one device (computer, tablet, laptop)
supports four video sources
The Standard Plan has all of the features we previously mentioned except the green screen feature.
The Studio Plan
can be installed on up to two devices
supports 12 video sources
supports 4K video
has the chroma key (green screen) feature

We want to mention that ManyCam is a pretty advanced graphics program which can cause older computers to slow down when in use. Many teachers use ManyCam and never have a problem. However, we recommend you check ManyCam’s minimum requirements before trying it out while teaching.
We also recommend testing it out as much as you can BEFORE trying it in the real classroom. Play around with it on your computer, try using it when video chatting to a friend. Login to your real classroom hours ahead of time and see how it works with your company’s interface.
